Onecom to hire over 100 new employees, increasing our headcount by 30%

As the UK’s largest independent business telecommunications provider, Onecom has announced the start of a huge recruitment drive to add 125 new staff to the business, increasing our headcount by around 30%. 

In the seventeen years since launching, we’ve grown into a UK-wide network of regional offices employing almost 400 staff. 

Over two-thirds of the recruits will work in the sales team and be spread across our 8 locations, with a particular focus on offices in Whiteley, Telford, Shoeburyness and Cardiff. 

This news follows the announcement back in July of Onecom gaining new funding of £100 million from mid-market private equity firm LDC, and credit funds managed by an affiliate of Ares Management Corporation to help support organic and acquisitive growth. 

The leadership team, headed by Ben Dowd, CEO, have outlined an ambitious target to grow the business threefold over the next 3 to 5 years, and its recruitment drive is the latest step towards realising that goal. 

Ben Dowd, CEO, explains how “We currently have 100,000 business customers and are exceptionally well placed to take advantage of the new opportunities in front of us, including the roll-out of 5G, adoption of fibre connectivity and the growing expenditure on telecommunications from SMEs. Increasing our headcount is key to us achieving this. This represents a significant moment of organic growth for Onecom, and we are also finalising plans for acquisitive growth in the coming months.”
