Onecom’s commitment to staff training and development has been recognised with an award from Investors in People (IiP).
The company, the UK’s leading independent business-to-business communications provider, has been awarded Silver accreditation after a rigorous assessment procedure.
Assessors examine how companies empower staff, recognise and reward good performance and deliver continuous improvement.
This is the first time that Onecom, which runs an employee rewards programme and invests heavily in training, has been assessed by IiP.
Darren Ridge, Onecom CEO, said: “Onecom’s success is built on its people, and this is why we place a heavy emphasis on staff training, mentoring and progression.
“To attain Silver status on our first IiP assessment is a huge achievement for all of us, and staff at our Hampshire headquarters and in all our offices throughout the UK deserve credit.
“I am delighted that Investors in People have recognised Onecom’s commitment to its employees, and we will be ensuring that staff development remains a key focus for the business as we continue to grow.”
Paul Devoy, Head of Investors in People, said: “We’d like to congratulate Onecom. Investors in People accreditation is the sign of a great employer, an outperforming place to work and a clear commitment to success. Onecom should be extremely proud of their achievement.”
Onecom runs a staff rewards programme called OneSTAR which recognises the achievements of outstanding individuals each quarter.
The company has recently launched a Training Academy at its head office in Whiteley, Hampshire, which is used for staff induction and training and includes a library and drop-in facilities.
This year staff have completed hundreds of hours in training in products and solutions required as part of the Vodafone Partner Programme, and have also undergone a similar process to achieve top-tier Samsung Premium Partner Status.
Onecom is the largest independent provider of total communications in the UK and manages more than 330,000 connections. It is based in Whiteley, Hampshire, with offices in London, Cambridge, Essex, Southampton, Plymouth, Leeds, Telford, Norwich and Brighton.
