Best feet forward! As part of Onecom’s commitment to staff wellness and in support of the charity YoungMinds, staff at many of our offices took part in a one-mile walking race.
The event was aimed at getting staff moving while raising money for the charity, which helps children and young people in need of mental health support.
Our teams at Onecom’s headquarters in Whiteley, Hampshire, and offices in Cardiff, Brighton, Telford, Shoeburyness, and Leeds took part, stepping out around their offices with the aim of posting the best time without breaking into a run!
Ruxandra Moore of our Leeds office had the fastest feet, completing her mile in 10 minutes and 32 seconds to win a £50 contribution towards a wellness treatment of her choice.
The event raised £718.50 for YoungMinds as staff made a donation to take part.
Staff from across the business have also competed to rack up the highest number of steps in a five-day Fitbit Challenge during Stress Awareness Month. Aron Evers in Onecom’s Leeds office was the winner, achieving an impressive 126,106 steps.
YoungMinds, chosen by staff as Onecom’s charity for 2019, is the UK’s leading charity for children and young people’s mental health.
Onecom has launched an enhanced wellness programme for all employees which includes the appointment of mental health first aiders, training on resilience and stress management and a telephone line for those who need support. All great steps towards ensuring we maintain a healthy, happy workplace for all our staff.
