Flexible working and productivity

Telecommuting, working from home (WFH), remote work, and flexible working are all terms for an arrangement where employees do not commute or travel to a central place of work, such as an office building, warehouse, or store. This is now something that many of us are experiencing; although in the current situation, some of us are having to deal with homeschooling and the extra fall out from the pandemic, so working from home isn’t quite the same!

In normal circumstances, there have been findings to prove that productivity can actually increase, and employee stress decreases. Without having to battle the morning commute, and surrounded by home comforts…there are definitely some benefits to be had. Perhaps once we are through this pandemic and ‘normal’ life resumes (without us all trying to do our best to just get by) more of us will continue to work flexibly. Pre-pandemic finding found that:

  • 83% of companies reported an improvement in productivity
  • 61% said their profits increased after implementing flexible working
  • 30% said that telecommuting allowed them to accomplish more in less time
  • While 24% said that they were able to accomplish more in the same time
  • 82% of telecommuters reported lower stress levels
  • 33% of millennials would leave their current job for a better work-life balance

This shows that when your employees are happy, they perform better and that the link between productivity and inspiring working environments is obvious. Wherever they prefer to work, you can make sure they are securely and seamlessly connected. At home, in the office or on the move. Take a look at our infographic…
